The Success of Doyle Brunson's Book "Super/System"

Doyle Brunson is one of the most famous professional poker players all over the world, and because of his notable contributions to the poker industry he has established a credible reputation not only as a poker professional but also as a poker author. This is the reason why his poker book titled "Super/System" is such a successful book. It is one of the reasons why the game of poker has become such a popular game all over the world. The popularity of poker can be attributed to the fact that a lot of professional poker players have been writing good information on such casino game. Because of this, poker has been promoted worldwide and has gained immense popularity. And one of the poker authors that we should be grateful for is Doyle Brunson. His book "Super/System" has definitely helped in promoting such casino game.

Doyle Brunson starts his poker book with introductory remarks that include information on his career in professional poker as well as tips on how to win in poker games. The tips that Doyle Brunson offers in "Super/System" includes the need to be patient when playing, the importance of watching poker competitions carefully, and the pertinence of controlling emotions when playing. Doyle Brunson also presents his views on extra sensory perception. Although such topic is not something we really recommend, his point of view is not at all damaging and does not affect the overall content of the book in a negative manner.

In "Super/System," several poker professionals have also been asked by Doyle Brunson to contribute information and provide poker tips for readers. For example, the author has asked poker giant Mike Caro to talk about draw poker while he has asked poker giant Chip Reese to talk about the seven-card stud poker game. Poker professional Joey Hawthorne has also been asked by the author to contribute information on the different forms of lowball, David Sklansky to contribute information on the seven-card stud high-low split poker game, and Bobby Baldwin to help the author discuss the limit and no-limit Texas Hold'em poker game.

Readers need not fear the fact that they might not understand some of the contents of "Super/System" because such poker book features not only a glossary of poker terms but also a compendium of poker charts and numbers. Caro helped Doyle Brunson in compiling such glossary, tables, and charts.

Since "Super/System" was written years ago, some of its contents are now outdated. A number of changes on how different poker games are played have occurred over the years and this is why some of the details written in such poker book are not applicable anymore. Nonetheless, we highly recommend this book. It is still an effective reading material for poker players and enthusiasts.
